Abstract

Obiettivo: Questo studio indaga circa l'impatto della diversità di genere nei consigli di amministrazione sulla performance delle "imprese ad alta crescita", offrendo prove da 27 startup operanti nel settore sanitario.

Metodo: Le imprese nascono in Italia nel 2014 e diventano gazzelle nel 2018 o nel 2019, rispettivamente al quarto o quinto anno di vita.

Per studiare l'impatto della diversità di genere nei consigli di amministrazione, sono stati impiegati diversi modelli di regressione per dati panel, utilizzando il ROA (Return on asset - ritorno sulle attività) come misura della performance finanziaria.

Risultati: I risultati mostrano che esiste una relazione statisticamente significativa e positiva tra la diversità di genere nei consigli di amministrazione e la performance finanziaria. In altre parole, all'aumentare della percentuale di donne nei consigli di amministrazione, la performance finanziaria cresce di circa il 6,41%.

Originalità dello studio: Il tema dell’impatto della diversità di genere nei consigli di amministrazione sulle performance delle imprese è ampiamente indagato in letteratura, Tuttavia, questo studio è originale sia per la tipologia di imprese (gazzelle) sia per il settore indagato (ospedali privati),

Implicazioni pratiche: I manager delle startup ad alta crescita possono trovare vantaggi dall'inclusione delle donne in posizioni dirigenziali e nel consiglio di amministrazione. Ciò è particolarmente rilevante per il settore della sanità privata, in cui la struttura della governance gioca un ruolo chiave nel conseguimento degli obiettivi di performance.
